PARK & RECREATION MEETING
Minutes of July 1, 2026
The Park and Recreation Board met at the Alexandria Community Park on the above date at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present:

Absent: Fred Hollmann
Also Present: Andy Schabell, Mayor Kim Wagner, Recreation Director
Carey Franks, Recreation Assistant
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
MOTION: Dawn Warner made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 3, 2026, meeting, seconded by Rick Carr. All in favor, the motion passed 4-0-0.
VISITORS and GUESTS: None
OLD BUSINESS:
Skate Park Update: Mayor Schabell provided several updates regarding the skate park. He reported receiving many positive comments and also shared that a resident had contacted him about donating a skate park box feature for grinding. Mayor Schabell stated that he would gather additional information and present it to the Park Board. Mrs. Franks added that she has observed the skate park being actively used while working at the park.
Park Improvement Projects: No updates at this time.
Security Cameras: No updates at this time.
Fishing Derby: The event was well attended, with 169 children registered to participate. Discussion was held regarding potential improvements for next year’s event, including the need for additional volunteers to assist with measuring and judging fish.
Budget Update: Dawn Warner presented the current budget and spending. No new spending was proposed.
Recreational Director Update: Mrs. Wagner reported that use of the softball field by BBHS has been limited, while interest from Knothole baseball teams has increased. As a result, the City may need to evaluate future field maintenance needs and determine whether additional support from Knothole or other user groups will be necessary as BBHS usage continues to decline.
Mrs. Wagner also provided an update on the Eagle Scout project being completed by Eli Moore. The project has been approved by his troop, and he anticipates beginning work on trail markers in August.
Additionally, Mrs. Wagner noted that the overflow parking signs are difficult to read and may require replacement or improvement.
