PARK & RECREATION MEETING

Minutes of June 3, 2026

The Park and Recreation Board met at the Alexandria Community Park on the above date at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present:        

Present:           Rick Carr                     Daniel Phirman           Fred Hollmann

                        Karen Minshall            Dawn Warner

Also Present:  Mike Hoerlein, Public Works Superintendent                                               Kim Wagner, Recreation Director

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

MOTION:  Dawn Warner made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 6, 2026, meeting, seconded by Rick Carr. All in favor, the motion passed 5-0-0.

VISITORS and GUESTS: None

OLD BUSINESS:

Skate Park Update: Mr. Hoerlein and the Board reviewed the proposed location for the skate park, evaluated the available parking spaces, and discussed potential fencing options as well as safety considerations for the site.

MOTION: Fred Hollmann made a motion to proceed with the skate park installation, pending a review of safety specifications by the City Attorney, seconded by Daniel Phirman. All if favor, the motion passed 5-0-0.

Park Improvement Projects: Mr. Hoerlein informed the Board that the Public Works Department had completed painting the ceiling in the women’s restroom and that the men’s restroom ceiling will be painted as well.

Budget Update: Dawn Warner presented the current budget and spending.  No new spending was proposed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Recreational Director Update: Mrs. Wagner asked for volunteers to assist with the upcoming Fishing Derby and reported that sponsors had been secured to provide prizes. She also informed the Board that new signs had been installed throughout the park, including “No Smoking” signs near the playground and “No Bikes” signs along the walking path. Additionally, she noted that Mr. Hoerlein had obtained quotes for the replacement of the park’s security system and cameras.

City Administrator Update: No Update.
